Slogan #50
Don’t Be Swayed by External Circumstances
Reflection
Today, Slogan 50, "Don’t be swayed by external circumstances" resonated deeply. Inspired by Judy Lief’s practice questions, I took my reflection outdoors to find peace and clarity in nature. Walking along familiar park trails, I found a quiet spot by the lake. The fresh air, rustling leaves, and steady rhythm of the water grounded me. Nature, my sanctuary, helped me reconnect and gain perspective. Watching the waves lap against the shore, I realised how often I let external circumstances dictate my inner state.
Meditating on this slogan, I focused on building resilience against external disruptions. Nature, with its patience and resilience, taught me to face changes with equanimity and steadiness. The gentle breeze, birdsong, and swaying trees reinforced that external chaos doesn’t have to affect my inner peace.
This practice of being in nature allowed me to observe how the external environment interacts with my internal state. It’s about finding that balance and not letting outside influences dictate my emotional well-being. Aligning my practice with the natural world deepens my connection to myself and strengthens my ability to remain grounded. This approach enriches my Lojong journey, bringing peace and clarity to daily life.
